es·car·got – An edible snail, especially one prepared as an appetizer or entrée.
I was having dinner at Victoria’s Station in Damansara yesterday.
And I finally brave myself to try escargot, in I had been thinking about for the longest time.
Snails? Who on earth eat snails? – That is what was going through my mind.
Surprisingly, it is not as weird and scary as expected.
And I personally find it easier and tastier than eating “balitong” which takes such skills and long time just to suck or pick the meat out, in which I find not worthy of the time and effort.
Back to escargot, the meat are dark in colour – close to dark brown or black.
It’s pretty chewy and had texture like abalone or razor clams.
It is most of the time cooked with large amount of garlic and mint, which I suspect is the main spice to hide any weird taste the snail meat had.
If you are not a garlic fan or someone who loves strong and flavourful sauces, you may not enjoy this dish.
