After much talk, we finally decides to pay a visit to the spicy mala hotpot adventure.
Of course we heard a lot of scary story like spitting fire 🔥.
But I have confidence I can manage, and I seriously don’t think it is that spicy after all.
We finally decided on Restaurant Hong La Qiao to try out their mala hotpot.
While we invited quite a bunch to join us, only the usual suspects showed up.
Most of them are either busy with work or were worried that the mala hotpot is too spicy.
Good news for those who can’t have spicy food.
They actually serve a non-spicy version as well, in which we ordered 2 different soup base – mala soup base and chicken soup base.
The ingredients for the hotpot had to be ordered separately.
But it seems everyone is too shy to order in which we ended up setting rules whereby everyone will have to order 3 dishes.
While 3 seems little, it will be quite a lot when going in big groups.
I personally recommend the thinly sliced beef!
😲 Oh my god! It is as thin as a piece of paper and instantly melts in the mouth! SUPERB!
And I really love this chewy jelly like noodles. It is really so smooth and silky.
Too bad I was busy eating and didn’t manage to see what its called.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The menu here is all in Chinese, so for fellow banana gang member like me, please at least bring along a friend who can read Chinese or you will need to trouble the waiter there.
My verdict for the place – It is quite spicy for my taste buds but I must say it is really tasty. And it taste even better eaten together with their 3 in 1 combo sauce!
Give it a try! The shop is located just a few shop away from the Teochew Porridge Shop nearby Pudu Jail.
