A movie that needs not much explanation. As classy as the heels is. As devilish as portrayed. As red hot sexy as it is and as classy and tastefully done like the Prada. A title that would just lure you no matter how you try to resist.
Got that right, I am one of those who just can’t resist the temptations. I fell in love with the poster the moment I first saw it early this year. I kept telling my friends.. I want to see The Devils Wear Prada. They asked me what is it about… I said, I don’t know. They ask me who acted in it. I say, I don’t know. But I was just so in love with the teaser poster. Which actually just show the heels and the title.
After I saw the trailer… it was like I want to see it even more. So much more that I can’t wait for the official screening. I just got to watch the sneak preview! When I did… I came out a satisfied viewer! Very much satisfied. I mean, I was never that satisfied for a movie I put so much hope and expectations for. The all somehow have some flaws that I just could help but complain. But no… at the end on the movie, my thumbs just went uncontrollable. Yes, 2 thumbs up. Would be even more if I have lots of thumbs. DEFINATELY MUST SEE!
Okay, the movie tells tale about Andy Sachs aka Andrea (Anna Hathaway), a naïve girl who just graduated from a university in journalism. Right, she just move to New York with his boyfriend, Nate (Adrian Grenier). She is all set to join one of the biggest and most famous fashion magazine company. Yes, it is said that if anyone survive working for Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) for a year, they could get any job at any publishing company they want.
Going in to an interview Andy is not prepared for, she was totally amazed. She knows nothing of the fashion industry, has never read the RUNWAY magazine (is equivalent to the Holy Bible in the fashion industry), and doesn’t know who Miranda Priestley is. However, she was chosen before millions of job applicant. Yes, Miranda decides to break the tradition to hire the “fat but smart” one.
Andrea just look at this job as a stepping stone. And thus, she doesn’t really click with her other colleagues especially Emily (Emiliy Blunt) who worries she would take over her position. She did screw up in her first few months as she practically have zero knowledge about the fashion industry.
The peak of where she is in desperate need of help is when she fails to get Miranda a flight ticket out of town to see her twins performance. She then seek for Nigel’s (Stanley Tucci) help to please Miranda. From that day onwards.. oh yeah, she just turn from a floppy newbie at work to a professional and confident assistant. Yes, you can be amazed how good looking cloths can boost your confidence.
When Miranda demands her to obtain the next unpublished Harry Potter manuscript, you can sense that she is trying to force her to quit, but it just makes her stronger. She is set to go all the way to get what she wants. She did way well than expected. So well that Miranda decided to bring her along to Paris. Right, the Paris Fashion Week thing is a dream for everyone in the fashion industry. Emily is dying to go and now Miranda force Andrea to tell Emily that she is replacing her for the spot.
The hype of the movie comes when RUNWAY boss wanted to sack Miranda and Andrea is doing everything she can to warn Miranda about it. The outcome of the ending is just so amazing. I never would have even figure out that strategy that Miranda have in mind (if I am in her position).
Well, I can’t exactly tell you what happens coz you seriously got to see it. I can say it is such a powerful story with lots of powerful lines. Lines so powerful they practically blown me away. I am also amazed with the subtle message it brings. Like how unfair this world is to woman who wants her career. Yeah, man always say they wanted to grow their career and with this excuse, they expect their woman patiently waiting for them. Not spending time for dinner, weekend or holiday or even time to just talk. But when a woman who wanted to grow their career, they are being labelled names, said as vicious, not understanding. The best part, some ended up in divorce.
Yes, at times things that we thought as a great offer. An offer no one could resist but well, it’s not always so. Everyone have their own dreams. This movie tells how many have sold their soul to the devil doing something that everybody is envy about and wants badly. While some just live what they dream about and work hard to make it come true.
