It is one of those “Digital Mall” weekend trip as Deon wanted to look for a new phone.
But of course before that hectic and brain-draining chore, we need to fuel up our brain cells and charge up our energy at the kopitiam situated right at the entrance of the mall.
We were welcomed by Ka Fei Tiam’s clean and bright environment. The decorations are pretty in tune with the modern style kopitiam – marble tables and chairs, dark wood shelves.
And their menu are quite standard and they do serve dishes that you see in most kopitiam.
Yes, by typical I mean local Malaysian favourites like nasi lemak, curry laksa, toast bread, steam bread, more bread options and of course not forgetting soft boiled eggs.
Unlike most of the other kopitiam, the waiters will sit you down at your table and pass you the menu for you to view it. Once you are ready to order, you will need to go to the counter to make your order and pay before food is served.
I ordered a glass of Cham Ais (RM3.20) and their signature Steamed Roti Ka Fei Tiam (RM2.20).
The bread that they use are a little different from the normal kopitiam.
Their default version are using brown bread instead of the typical white bread.
I’m glad it’s just brown bread and not wheat bread, cause I never like its texture despite it being a healthier option.
So glad the bread is soft and fluffy, and of course buttery.
Deon actually ordered Nasi Lemak (RM7.90) and Cham Ais too.
To my surprise, their nasi lemak taste better than Kluang Station’s nasi lemak.
I especially like the chicken rendang and it’s not too spicy.
Not that I don’t like spicy food, just I felt it was just right and a good blend together with the sambal.
Not over-killing the spicy sensory taste buds 🔥.
