Daisy… a beautiful flower. Beautiful enough to capture my attention towards the dark coloured poster that reads lines and lines of Korean word which I have no clue what it’s talking about. Somehow, the word “Daisy” and the word “from the director and producers of Infernal Affairs”, it quickly struck my attention. Korean actors and actress with Hong Kong directors. How can I miss that out. Besides, Infernal Affairs have been highly acclaimed. I think it was one of the best Hong Kong made movies.
I somehow doesn’t expect much from the movie. I’ve never heard of the movie until I saw the poster while waiting for my friends to come out of the cinema toilet. I never seen the trailer.. I didn’t hear anyone talk to me about it and it’s so difficult to find info’s on the internet (maybe I am not a good searcher).
To my surprise this movie takes in not only great cast.. but they also have great crews that makes this movie one of my Top 10 must watch movie of the year. Yes, Korean megastar Jeon Ji Hyun (previously acts in My Sassy Girl and Windstruck) and Jeong Woo Seong (acts in A Moment To Remember) is being selected to play the lead in this movie.
“Daisy” is the product of a collaboration of high-profile actors and production crews from Korea and Hong Kong: Andrew Lau, who directed “A Man Called Hero” and “Internal Affairs, while the script will be overseen by director Kwak Jae-yong, who directed “Windstruck”, the production crew of “Internal Affairs” the martial arts team of “Spiderman” and the simultaneous recording team of “Taegeugki”. Enough to blow you away?
The movie was being shot in Netherlands (ah.. so beautiful~) tells a sad love triangle story. Yes, Jeon Ji Hyun (Hye-young) is torn between two love of her life, one a professional killer played by Jeong Woo Seong (Park Yi) and the other, an Interpol played by Lee Sung Jae (Jeong Woo).
Hye-young is an artist who loves to paint. On one of her painting trips, she fell in to a river while crossing a bridge. Her clumsiness caught Park Yi’s attention and Park Yi soon fell in love with Hye-young when he first saw her. He was however very careful and only remains as a secret admirer as he believes Hye-young is too good for him. Knowing where he stand, he always watch Hye-young from far and sends her potted daisies everyday at 4.15 sharp.
Hye-young is very touched and she constantly wait around hoping to meet her secret admirer. One day, while painting, she stumbles in to Jeong Woo who is on a mission. He disguised himself by asking Hye-young to draw a portrait for him. Hye-young very soon mislead that he is the secret admirer when he brought along a pot of daisy.
Yeah, Jeong Woo is getting a free ride as Hye-young soon fall in love with him thinking he is the secret admirer. Park Yi on the other hand is very upset and furious over the matter, however he is dare not step up to show himself.
In a terrible gun fire incident when Jeong Woo’s cover was blown, Hye-young was shot and she lost her voice. The set of the movie soon switch to a cold and unhappy scenes. That is when Park Yi decides that he could no longer hide himself and he must show himself to support and encourage Hye-young. Hye-young on the other hand still doesn’t know Park Yi is the one she has been waiting for all these while.
Jeong Woo on the other hand was sent back to Korea as his identity in Netherlands was blown. Upon returning, he went to find Hye-young only to tell her, he was not what she always thought he is. He is not her secret admirer. In one killing mission, Park Yi is ordered to kill Jeong Woo. While he is reluctant, the agency took over and killed Jeong Woo.
Upon Jeong Woo’s death, Hye-young was slowly moved and fell in love with Park Yi. I guess happy moments didn’t really last long as soon Hye-young founds traces and evidence that proves that Park Yi killed Jeong Woo. Park Yi had no choice but to faint Hye-young out while he went out to carryon another mission. Upon her waking up, she soon finds out the biggest secret in her life.
It was a really romantic movie set in such a beautiful city. Every scene in the movie is so beautifully shot. Trust me, when you are watching the movie, you could just randomly screenshot any scene out and it still looks perfectly nice.
The beautiful scenery totally blown me away. To top the notch, the classical music was superb. It make me didn’t want to leave the cinema. True to the core, many people would have given this movie a bad review despite many of them was hoping and carrying the thought of this movie is a thriller. Yes, I almost think so too looking at the black colour version of the poster.
If you love paintings (Monet’s especially), classical music, beautiful sceneries and well felt like watching something romantic. Yes… it’s a must go and see thing. I was hoping to catch them on the DVD’s as I believe there were more things to the movie. Perhaps a duo ending. I am not sure… I am just hoping there were more things to see as it totally swept me of my feet.
