July is always the celebration month for our VVIP gang.
It is Gigi and Brian’s birthday celebration 🎂.
And this time round, the OG VVIPs get to gather since Jon is around town.
But the bigger surprise was my god-bro, Jerry’s appearances.
It has been a while since I last met up with him.
And a gathering together with good food is a must.
We went to Anne Elizabeth since it is highly recommended by Jerry!
Their Creamy Mushroom and Bacon Soup is really thick and creamy.
I personally felt it was a little too thick. Would have preferred for it be a little more watered down.
But what I love about the soup is that it still had the chunky mushroom bits and had a subtle bacon after taste from the soup.
The Garlic Bread is super buttery and with crunchy sides.
Goes just so well with the mushroom soup!
Their Passion Fruit and Parmesan Salad is quite an interesting combination.
As most people know, I am not a “raw vegetable” person.
And this still stand.
The only thing that made this a little better was the sourness from the passion fruit.
But it’s ok, it is the only greens to balance out the reds for the meal.
To make it felt like we had more veges, we ordered their Portobello, Bacon and Cheese 🍄.
It is one of their chef recommended stuffed portobello mushroom.
The stuffing is so well-balanced. Both the cheese and bacon complemented each other instead of them fighting for attention.
And the best part, it is not overly salty.
We also ordered their Jacket Potato, originally for the little VVIP.
But it seems to have a lot of spring onions and pepper.
Hence it ended up as the adult’s fave instead.
The boys handpicked some sausages from the whole bunch of selection.
Let’s dig in. I prefer the one with a little spicy taste.
Gotta find out from the boys what did they pick!
When we are at a western restaurant, steak is a must to try their skill.
We ordered their Marbled Ribeye Steak and it was cooked to perfection.
Yes, they are one of the few places that didn’t overcook their medium steak.
The meat was well-rested and are super tender. I don’t have to put in much effort to cut the steak.
And I love how it is so juicy yet flavourful.
And I strongly recommend to order their steaks as it is really good and the price of their steak was reasonable.
Iberico Abanico Spanish Pork is one of their signature.
The waitress strongly recommended this dish, and we totally agree with her recommendation.
This is really flavourful and tender, and we all can’t help but compliment while tasting this dish.
We also ordered the Sakura Pork Belly. The thickly sliced pork belly was tender and juicy at the same time.
As the the meat normally more marbled, it gives the meat more texture and stronger flavour.
I am also glad the piece is not too fatty and oily.
We finish off our meal with dessert.
Since their selection for desserts are only a handful, we picked the Banana Crème Brulee.
I was sceptical at first, since I have never heard of such combination but was soon proven wrong.
The slightly burnt banana adds an additional flavour to the dessert and reminded me of caramelized banana.
If only the custardy Crème Brulee was more soft and wobbly it would be perfect.
We continued to catch up after the meal, and me, Jon and Jerry continued to catch a movie before we all leave.
I think this year’s celebration was merrier and we should catch up more often.
Thank you vvips!
