The little guy that helps the santa to wrap presents. Yes, that is what we commonly know them as, an elf. Ever in green cute yet cunning, naughty and playful at times. But well… everybody needs a little help and fun around. The usual members is in an early holiday mood. But not to worry.. I didn’t fly solo this time. Earthkid did submit something. Sorta old yet playful looking elf during christmas mood… ah… just what we all need. Now even looking at the elf makes me wish christmas was this instant. Okay.. too much wrapping and ribbon cutting got my elf a little cuckoo. I mean who wouldn’t be. I guess this is how I will look like by the end of the week since I have loads of stuff to wrap. Ah… scissors… ribbons… and everything nice. What is up next week? Project description: Now… you know I am in the christmas mood. Well… yeah… a snowman that will last for all season… without melting. FRIENDz-terism
Backdated post. Actual event took place on 11 December 2006.
Yippie yippie yeay… the little princess just came back from a relaxing Kuantan trip and yup, wake up to my big day! Haha… yup, the princess is one year wiser! Time pass by so fast… sigh, at times it is pretty much scary. But then again… it’s a happy thing.
Work is as usual, but lunch is different. Hehe… the office decided that we should celebrate my birthday somewhere else instead of in Hotel Maya (again). Hence we decided to try something different. Something really near yet we never try before.
Prem made a reservation at The Deccan Indian Cuisine. Woo.. of course I have no objection since I love Indian Cuisine. I love spicy food… but nothing too spicy. For a building nearby such a busy road, it’s really pretty much empty. We were practically the second customer in the entire place.
Since Prem suggested to dine here, we pass the task of ordering food to him. Seriously, I have much problem trying to pronounce what I would love to order. In cases like this… I would just point to the menu if I have to.
Okay… I always loved Palak Paneer. It’s actually cubes of cottage cheese cooked in spinach puree. I tried those before else where but I never know what it’s called. Most of the time I would refer to it as the spinach dish. I can really say, the ones served here is pretty much thicker than what I usually have. Ah… with cottage cheese… HEAVENLY~
Other food we had includes Murgh Lababdar (Chicken cooked in tandoor and simmered in rich tomato butter gravy flavoured with dried fenugreek), Machchi Ghulabi Handi (Fresh fish pieces simmered in a spiced tomato and brown onion gravy), Tadka Moong Dal (A rich preparation of yellow dal), Deccan Special Surf & Turf Platter (Assorted barbecued platter of chicken, mutton and fish delicacies), Roganjosh (Tender pieces of mutton cooked in spicy Indian gravy).
Everything looks like they come in small portion but mind you, they are seriously filling. Believe or not… with all the macho knights surrounding me, we can’t finish what we ordered. I guessed we ordered too much carbs. But… the Naan, Roti Prata and the rice is a must to go along with the dishes.
I really enjoyed all the dishes. They are just so yummy. Probably it’s been a while since I had proper Indian food. But seriously… I want more! Sigh… if only my tummy listens to me and make space for more food!
While I was happily dining like a princess, Prem’s phone rang. It seems someone was suppose to deliver something to our office. Since they can’t wait for us to finish our lunch, they asked for our lunch location and decided to send here instead.
When I was chewing… I saw this delivery guy holding a bouquet of flowers walking towards the restaurant. Then the manager came and asked if I am Mandy and said there is a delivery for me.
The first thing that strike my mind, “SHIT!!! Don’t tell me that is for me”. Don’t get me wrong, not that I don’t like flowers… just delivered to my lunch place is a little… dramatic la. Worst is everyone on my table looks at me one kind… asking me who send me flowers. I sorta thank god, that we didn’t actually dine at a packed place.
Then again… before even looking at the card, I already knew. How come? Not much people know I like sunflowers. Hehe yup, sunflower is one of the three flowers I like.
So yup, bingo… it’s from Gigi and Brian. Hehe… yup, they look beautiful don’t day? Yeah, sunflowers always give me this feeling that hope is always there. Probably it’s cheerful colour… I am not sure… but it surely make me happy.
Thanks for the flowers and for such a lovely lunch. *burp* It’s a really beautiful day. Then again, I still won’t make a wish 🙂

Being the only person who draws the prisoner means… er… yeay… I am the sole survivor~ Okay… let me show off my Minor Mo version of Mini Me. Hemm… yes very much like ikan, I am inspired by Austin Power as well. To fellow people who have seen my sketchbook… yes, it’s very much different! I know… I have no idea why I tend to stray away from my original idea. Seems like I just want to add everything in. Then again… I am fickle minded. Right… not all prisoners are as handsome as the ones in Prison Break okay! So you gotta live with it 🙂 Hehe… reality check… they all should be bald, my dear sis! What is up next week? Project description: Food… more food… more and more please. *burp* I want more! So someone gotta cook it for me! Project deadline: 29 November 2006, Wednesday. Backdated post. Actual event took place on 18 November 2006.
Evening Hours, such a beautiful name that Brian thought of for our gatherings.
It all started with our cooking projects and a reason to gather.
In the future, when you see the word Evening Hours you will know it is related to our cooking and gatherings.
And I would like to thank Gigi for creating the Evening Hours logo.
The first Evening Hours gathering was at Brian’s house since his kitchen was well equip and has a cosy ambient.
Since it is a cooking project, everyone needed to cook a dish.
Hence Gigi helped to do grocery shopping for all the needed ingredients since me and Brian was busy at work.
As for Jon and June, since they can’t really make it to cook, we gave them a chance to buy some food instead of them cooking.
We decided to start preparing our dishes first so that everything will be ready when Jon and June arrive.
Gigi is busy preparing – cutting up meat, tomatoes, mushrooms as she is going to cook Spaghetti 🍝.
Brian on the other hand is making Bake Tomato with Baby Leek and Balsamic Vinegar (Jamie Oliver style).
As for me, I am cooking my signature Pork Rib in Orange Sauce.
The most difficult part was marinating the pork rib and squeezing orange juice without a juicer.
Yay! Seems everyone was busy finishing their masterpiece and cooked something that compliments each other dishes.
Our timing was perfect. Jon and June arrived just in time.
Jon brought some cheese sausage while June prepared some sandwiches from home and even brought dessert.
With some wine, we now had a complete meal.
As we finish our meal, sat down for a good chat, Jon suddenly made a bold suggestion to go Genting 😲!
And we are up for it. Of course we all say OKAY!
So, let’s wait up for my next post about our Genting adventure.
Backdated post. Actual event took place on 15 October 2006.
Since Nicole left, I continue my normal hanging out and watching movies routine with my buddies.
Eating is what I do best (so does everyone else).
This time round, we decided to have some Japanese food before the movies.
And in KLCC, we are down to only 3 choices – Genki Sushi, Sushi King or Nippon Tei.
We decided on Nippon Tei since we have tried Genki Sushi and Sushi King before.
This is our first time here, and everyone ordered their own set.
I have a sudden craving for beef, and I am glad they have pages of beef dishes on the menu.
I end up ordering Beef Teriyaki set while Gigi ordered the Beef Teppanyaki set.
Angeline on the other hand ordered the Saba Shioyaki set since she is a white meat eater.
While for Brian, I don’t really remember what he ordered.
I think I am starting to be forgetful .
We each also ordered extra for sharing.
Me and my Agedashi Tofu, Gigi ordered Soft Shell Crab while Angeline ordered Edamame.
I didn’t manage to try other items aas I was busy enjoying my plate of beef.
While it isn’t really great, it is enough to satisfy my cravings.
As for the Agedashi Tofu, I think it needed quite some improvement since I have tried better previously in One Utama.
I can’t recall which shop it is, so I will go there again and blog it out next time.
