Day 2 was less tiring, especially after a good sleep plus I have a cute kitty to accompany me for the night.
I thought I love waking up to the sound of waves, but I think I love the idea of it rather than the actual thing.
But I do love waking up and peeking through the thin white curtain looking at the beach view.
That feels just so nice 😍.
I am surprised that I actually morning call and wake everyone else up.
Most of them can’t wake up since we partied too hard yesterday night or should I say they drank too much 😂.
I am sure you all can imagine – me calling each room a few time and waited for them.
Surprisingly, only Prem is alert enough to go have breakfast with me. while the others slowly join us as they drag themselves out of the bed.
Breakfast is generally okay. The spread is pretty standard, but it’s the view that makes all the difference.
Having breakfast while looking at the calm sea with white sandy beach is just great.
Right after breakfast, I head back to room to rest, do some sketching while facing the beach.
Life is wonderful after all~
We then pack our bags, gathered at the lobby while we wait to check out.
We had fun in Kuantan and are all set to venture to Cherating.
Our journey to Cherating begins, and along the way we saw a lot of shops selling keropok, salted fish and best of all, keropok lekor. Sadly, I never had any while I am there.
We then proceeded to check in to Holiday Villa Hotel which had a totally different experience from our Kuantan hotel.
We stayed in chalets that had this “kampung” feel. It’s pretty cool and I get to have the whole chalet to myself.
We leave our stuff in the room, roll around the bed for a while and then go food hunting thereafter.
Guys, when I mention we had seafood overload, I really meant it.
Lunch is Y.U.M.M.Y! We try not to order too much seafood as Prem and Adrian would be bringing us to “THE BEST OF THE BEST” seafood in Kuantan later tonight.
So yes, we ordered lots of vegetables with some seafood in it.
I personally think it is hard to avoid any seafood given most dishes are cooked with seafood.
I must give a big shout out to the freshness of the seafood especially the prawns.
It was fried to perfection and the sauce was just thick enough to coat the prawns.
It is so crispy and juicy at the same time that, I ate the prawns as it is without peeling the shells!
After lunch is always the most torturing part, and it gets worst especially after such a filling and delicious lunch.
I felt like sleeping, but sadly we all have got to complete our final meeting for the day.
Hey, it’s not as fun as you see. We still have to work.
But well, at least we get to choose to work away from office and more freely when the mind is much fresher.
What happens after meeting?
What is best of the best seafood like?
What will happen that night?
Where are you guys partying?
Stay tune, you’ll see 😎

After a relaxing meeting by the beach, we go back to rest and shower before heading out to look for food.
Okay, let’s re-phrase – not look for food since Prem and Adrian have everything under control.
All we needed to do is get ready, hop on to the car and we are there.
While I have no idea where are we, I know I am somewhere nearby the dinner place since I saw quite a lot of shops by this road selling grilled seafood.
We stop by at this particular shop name Phuket.
Yup, I find the name quite interesting and reminded me as if I am holidaying in Phuket Island.
But who cares about the name, so long they serve good food since I am hungry.
We tasked choosing the freshest fish and how it will be cooked to Prem since he loves fishing and is the subject matter expert.
All we need to do is sit and order our drinks while we wait for the food to come.
The final step is to take some great food pictures and EAT!!!
The amount of food we ordered and ate that night is unbelievable .
We ordered 4 different type of fish, crabs, seafood tom yam and fried kangkung with squid.
So yes, we surely are experiencing seafood overload.
The grilled fish is simply amazing. While I don’t know what fish it is, they all tasted just so fresh and tender.
I like the crabs the most. I felt like eating all and order more.
Too bad, that is all the crab left so thankfully at least we get to try it.
By the way, did I mention most people in Kuantan think I am Korean?
Haha, I am not kidding. At least 2 or 3 person have asked me this since I am in Kuantan.
While in Kuantan, we must visit Checker’s.
Yes, the one in KL also has a branch in Kuantan and MANDY IS HERE!
It is much more spacious here, and the ambience and sound system was super cool.
We all had fun hanging out, chit chatting, playing pool and listening to Prem’s remix.
After chilling out in Checker’s, we head back to hotel and our second round began.
According to Prem, the bar at our hotel is quite happening where youngsters hang out there.
They are very strict when it comes to dress code, but I manage to get away since all of them think I look like Korean and wouldn’t understand what they were talking about.
So yes, just act blur and just walk in!
After our drinking session, we went back and knock out.
Since I have an extra space, I sneak in the little kitty from Loh’s car.
Might as well just adopt the kitty for 2 days since it is going to be left in the car anyway.
Yawn, I need to sleep since there are more meeting tomorrow.

Finally, this is my very first trip to Kuantan.
I am quite excited since this is officially my first time setting foot in Kuantan (excluding Kijal trip).
This is actually Flare’s 1st Away Day, where Prem decided to bring us to his hometown for some good food and work while away from office with creative meeting.
We went there in 2 separate cars since Adrian went back earlier as he had to run errands back in Kuantan.
Prem, Azli and Zul went in 1 car while I was privileged whereby my my nearby neighbour, Loh came to pick me up.
Since we are the nearest to the Karak highway, we decided to have breakfast while waiting for them.
Even after we finished our breakfast we still have not gotten any updates from they guys.
We decided not to wait anymore and start our journey since Prem’s should be able to catch up since he drive very fast manner.
Loh made a quick stop for his ciggie break, and true enough the rest join in like 30 minutes later at the stop near to Kuantan.
When we reach Kuantan, we picked up Adrian and look out for places to have lunch.
But in Kuantan, there isn’t much place which is open for lunch.
According to the locals (Prem and Adrian), most of the good food only starts operating at night.
Hence we decided to head to the hotel, check-in and eat there.
We had lunch at Hyatt’s main dining and there isn’t many people at that time.
There isn’t much options hence we ordered from the ala carte menu.
I personally think the food was OK, it wasn’t great but not bad either.
Prem, Zul and Adrian have Hyatt’s specialty fried rice which comes with a lot of fried chicken and satay while for Azli ordered chicken rice.
I think Azli loves chicken rice as I tend to notice he orders chicken rice quite often.
Loh tried their Thai Style Chicken which I didn’t had a chance to steal a bite but it does look tempting.
As for me, Stir Fried Sotong with Spring Onion. I find the dish is a little too sweet.
Yes, I taste sugar! and I don’t really like my food to be sweet.
Right after lunch, we head back to our rooms. While everyone are sharing rooms, I get the whole room to myself since I am the only girl in the office, and that spells privilege 👸.
After a short break, we head to the meeting room and started our creative meeting.
We played mini games to keep everyone alert and engaged.
The game is similar to “Win, Lose or Draw” and surprisingly, I won the game.
And to my surprise, I got rewarded with cash prizes. Haha, extra pocket money for the trip .
Yay! I am good at these guessing games. I pay attention, you know!
After the meeting, we head to the nearest pub next to the beach at our hotel.
While chilling by the beach, we chit chatted and discussed about work a little.
And I think my brain seems fresher while sipping chilled pineapple juice, looking at the ocean and white sandy beach.
Now, I wish I could work like this everyday!
And this is not even half of what happened on the first day.
So stay tuned for the part 2.
Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 June 2006. We manage to locate our chalet, Bala’s Holiday Chalet. It was much more beautiful than I expect it to be. Beforehand, brian did send me a few pictures. Coincidently the next day, I saw a short review about it on TV. True to the core, the Bala’s Holiday Chalet is one of the oldest colonial building built during the pre-war era and yet still maintain it’s original structure. The building was a former British School and now has been refurbish to capture the original structure and feel of it. It is a peaceful and quiet place. The place is very cozy and give me this feeling like I am a little girl once again. The moment we arrived we checked in. We upgraded from a Family Room to a Family Suite. Yeah, initially only four of us group in for the trip. So when angeline decided to tag along.. we upgraded. Well… it’s worth it.. the Family Room offers 2 double bed and cost RM180. The Family Suite have 2 double bed and 1 single bed. The best part, it’s a two story room. Which means the girls get the top floor since it has a double bed and a single bed there that cost RM250. Yes, I must surely praise our CEO (Chief Event Organizer) Brian, for choosing such a cool location for us to stay. What can I say, it is surely a cool place to stay and a total different experience. I was elected the treasurer for this trip. Yes, everyone will throw in RM150. So yes, all the expenses, room rates, tol, petrol, food… whatever not is being deducted from the pool.
We then jump in to the tv room. This room is kinda small but cozy. Fully equipt with English like deco and lots of event pictures were being sticked to a board. I am quite amazed with the fireplace they have. Ah.. it makes the room so warm and fun.
Woo.. our stomach is making a lot of noise. It’s just time for dinner! We just gotta eat… eat… and eat… Address: Other Cameron post: |
Backdated post. Actual event took place on 17 June 2006. I guess this journey is far worst than malacca. I was never good with winding road. It makes me want to puke. I have headache… my heart beats so fast as if it’s gonna explode any minute. Worst.. is I kept wanting to know.. how long more to reach.. counting the seconds as it ticks. Let me off the car. Yes I know I should be sleeping. I am sleeping on the highway from KL to Tapah. But the moment we are 1/4 the journey up the hill… I start to be awaken. With the uncomfortable feeling. I wasn’t the only one. Angeline face the same problem. At that point… I was like thinking..” WAH… got KAKI!” Right… might sounds abit cruel to think so but well… at least there is someone in the car who understands how I felt. The moment Brian says Tanah Rata is ahead. I was like…so damn happy as if god had answered my prayers and I will have to kill two chicken, one whole pig (roasted), some cakes and whatever things needed. Me and angeline quickly jump out of the car to inhale some polluted air. Right.. many think it would be fresh air up there.. but seriously… loads of pesticide content in the air. But yeah.. we walked to the nearest gas station. Jon, Brian and Gigi kept asking us to eat some sour plum. Which in this case actually is not of my interest. I like sour stuff like tom yam, asam laksa… but sour plum is just not my taste. But yeah… I whack a small packed which seriously does make me feel better that instant… but after that… nah… it didn’t do any good. We then continue our journey to… our dreamland… our nice little challet! Other Cameron post: |
Backdated event. Actual Event took place at 17 June, 2006. The long awaited cameron trip post is finally here. Here you go… there is loads and loads of pictures taken… so yeah… I’ll do a step by step tour report. Hahaha… It all started with a tiring morning. The night before, I attended angeline’s birthday party at Breakers together with gigi. It was a fun night out… except the fact that the party ended late.. around 4ish and then we went mamak. We each reach home around 5ish. Me and gigi and angeline is busy packing our bags for the trip! Last minit as usual 😉 Brian is suppose to come around 6 something. Yeah.. he picked up gigi and angeline then come and pick me up. We all then drop meet up Jon and he drove all of us to breakfast at ss2. It was a nice morning. It’s been a long time since I wake up before the day was bright and eat dim sum. I always love dim sum… and early mornings. I used to remember each time I go back Ipoh, my mum will ask me to sleep early the night before so that I can wake up and eat dim sum. Me being so excited over dim sum will jump to bed early and wish it was early morning in a blink of an eye. So yeah… when we first reach the dim sum place, it as dark as if it was midnight. Not much people were there… only three other men were sitting next table to us. The blur and not enough sleep version of me forgets to note down where I had the dim sum that day. So yeah… just pictures for you to drool at. To me the food was just okay… maybe actually it tasted much better but just what’s on my mind is… get in the car and sleep…. BED…. BED…. BED….. sleep~ so yeah…. that spoils some eating mood. But I must say, the hot tea does serve some good to me. We ate lots of stuff, like.. prawn spring roll (this is good), lo bak kou (white carrot cake), siew mai, fishball, har kau, fung jau (chicken feet), salad prawns and others. We weren’t there for quite some time, but the drastic changes of brightness on the sky makes me feel as if I have sat there for like 4-5 hours. Sun rise, dim sum, trip… ah…. exciting.. fun… yet tired. Yes, I need to sleep in the car. Wake me up when we reach! |
Goodbye busy town…. Sayonara to KL…. Aloha Came & Run High lands! I am so excited. It’s been a while since I go up there. Best of all thinking of eating steamboat at cold places. Fog my specs… hehehe.. well I wonder if they do sell mini wipers for my glasses. Eh… Strawberries… eat loads of em…. packs and packs of it…. smell the roses….. buy em all and make brian’s car a flower car. Ermmm…. cut all the thorns on a cactus….. ermmm… I dunno There are a million things I felt like doing! What else is funto do… Hahaha.. I dunno.. I am only blinded by the strawberries and flowers and of course steamboat which I am still looking forward to. Seems like fun… it will be fun! How can it not be fun! Yeay…. *excitedly jumps around*. Wait a minit… I not yet pack up Cameron here I come~ |
