Finally, my fellow chancellors gathering happened.
Still lacking one of the OG member, Mable who was supposed to join but seriously twisted her leg.
So this round, only Mei Xihn and Zack joined for lunch.
That’s right, since Mei Xihn moved to Singapore to work, these gathering only happens when she is back for a break.
Seems croissants are their signature.
They seems to have lots of croissant choices.
And we picked the Matcha Croissant (RM10.90), which comes with a thick and rich matcha cream on top.
Guess what, the middle of the croissant is again filled with the same matcha cream!
Super rich and yummy! But too bad, I am not a matcha lover, hence would think a chocolate or vanilla would make me fell in love with it a little more.
This time, we chose Oui Bakehouse as our gathering spot since we wanted something different.
For savoury food, we decided to try something signature and different.
They had this Chili Crab Pizza (RM45) which I find really interesting as I never seen it at any other café before.
I love the fact that I don’t have to peel the crabs.
The thin and crunchy crusted pizza topped with chili sauce, loads of cheese and crab meat!
Woah.. the aroma is really good.
While I already prepare myself and expected that Chili Crab are naturally on the sweeter palette, I still was shocked when I had a bite.
Wished it was a little less sweet and it would have been perfect.
Deemed as the Soul Sandwich 2.0 (RM33.90), it is version 1.
This one was on the stronger Asian taste, while the previous was more western.
The new Soul Sandwich was made from homemade black sesame waffle with fried chicken, sweet and spicy sauce, and raw honey!
I personally find the sweet and spicy sauce too over powering and salty to the point I can’t taste the chicken or the black sesame taste in the waffles.
Yes, for someone who can take salty food to say that it is too salty is another level.
And I think it was too dry for my liking, to a point I felt it was hard to swallow.
I would advice against ordering this.
Think one would have a better overall experience with other dishes.

It’s our first away day!
Yes, most of them termed it the Ampersand Sports Day aka Hari Sukan Ampersand.
A day where everyone gather, just to do fun activities such as Pickle Ball, Yoga or Spin classes.
As for me, it is a day to eat 🍴, drink 🍺 and get together.
The main aim is to bond off work related matters.
Another round of grilled lamb is never too much.
The carnivore in me says, let’s go!

Wonda Coffee Kluang Edition was launched in collaboration with Malaysian superhero; Keluang Man.
It is the first Kluang-style coffee in a ready to drink form.
Kluang is a region in Johor popular for its aromatic local coffee ☕.
The best part of this can, it has got my name on it 😍. Nice!
We’ve been in the network for quite a while.
And this is the first time we attended the conference.
Yes, we can’t miss out since this is the first time it is held in Malaysia.
And the welcome dinner is held at Marini’s 57.
An iconic place with a great view of the KLCC tower.
Hence it is a good place to host all the other partners from worldwide.
Since we are the first to arrive, let’s take a selfie !
So beautiful
And breathtaking!
Meeting my eldest aunt who came back from Taiwan for a short break.
We decided to lunch at our regular.
Yes, this place is filled with childhood memories.
I remember as a kid, we would all look forward to come here with all my aunties, uncles and cousins.
Kam Heong Lala is a must.
Like we never will miss this out.
The only exception is if they are out of lala!
It is that good and I still think it taste as good as I could remember.
And the fact that they still use sand type of clam rather than the farm breed ones.
The adults normally love this, more so my relatives that misses the local curry since they were in Taiwan for a while.
I personally find the Curry Fish Head near my house better in taste.
It is much more thicker and have more aromatic flavour too.
This Salted Fish with Pork Belly is a rice killer.
It goes so well with rice to a point I think I would go for a second bowl of rice.
Calm down Mandy, calm down!
They used quite a bit of salted fish which gives it a really fragrant taste, but that also means it is quite salty for some people’s liking.
Hence it is best to go with rice instead of eating it as a standalone.
But that also means, we needed to order other more bland dishes to compliment this.
My younger nieces seems to like spinach.
It seems that is almost their staple go to vege aside cabbages.
So we ordered the Spinach with Superior Soup.
This would surely help with cleansing the palette and washing down the curry and saltiness of the pork belly dish.
O-chien aka Oyster Omelette was one of my mom’s favourite dish.
Not many place do it well and most common problem is either the oysters are too small, not fresh or some would put in overly much flour which makes it super gluey.
This was decent, and at least it taste authentic without flour.
In our era, we are a sucker for Sizzling Japanese Tofu.
No dinner at a Chinese restaurant is complete without it.
But it seems the young ones these days prefer Tofu in Thick Soup.
It’s ok, soup is one of the things we don’t mind having more.
Since the Tan’s are of Teochew descendants, we have to order the classic Teochew dessert.
Not many place serves this, and one of the reason why we like this restaurant is because the owner is also of Teochew descendant.
That’s right, Orh Nee or Sweet Yam Paste is an old school, nostalgic Teochew dessert.
It is served warm and the smooth yam paste topped with gingko is simply yummy!
A good ending to mark our 5 year once gathering.
Now before we leave, let’s take a photo for keepsake.
Till the next time, cheese 📸!
